Fertilizers for Wheat in Missouri Fields
Missouri wheat soils lack nitrogen and phosphorus and respond to targeted fertilization. Rotation with clover or cowpeas, plus 100 to 150 pounds of bone meal or super phosphate, boosts profits. In worn soils add potassium. use ammoniated bone and potash for higher returns. Ground rock phosphate rarely profitable for wheat. best when mixed with manure before corn. Barnyard manure remains best if available.
