The Navy Department announced fourteen Aviation Cadets in the U S Naval Reserve designated as Naval Aviators on July 14. They will be detached from Pensacola, Florida, late August to join aircraft squadrons of the United States Fleet. Peterson Family Reunion at Simpson Park Chillicothe

The Peterson reunion gathered sixty relatives and eighteen friends at Simpson Park Chillicothe last Sunday August 21 in ideal weather. Attendees from Albia Bradstown Breckenridge Browning Cameron Chillicothe Green City and other towns joined to honor N E Peterson now living with his daughter. A family tree created years ago traces the line back to before the Revolutionary War and is printed in a valued book with letters and pictures.

On August 17 1938 thirty three relatives friends and neighbors gathered at the home of Mr and Mrs W I Myers in Purdin Missouri to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary They were married southeast of Winigan Missouri by Rev Geo Worley on August 17 1888 The couple have seven children Ray Roy Wade Ada Mae deceased Austin Purdin Ruby Helen deceased Oletha Hunt and two grandchildren Clin ton Myers and Algie Myers They received many gifts and the cake was served on the crystal stand used for their wedding cake. S. S. Cotter returned Monday with his son and daughter in law from a 2500 mile journey through seven states and Canada. They visited relatives in Saginaw Michigan and Granite City Illinois and were hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Francis Gooch. Weather was cool and crops in the visited states were reported fine.

Farm Club Meeting at Browning Plant Gathers Enthusiastic Crowd

Patrons of the Browning Farm Club met at the plant for an evening of entertainment and organization. Thirteen competitors vied for three awards with winners Spencer Britton reading first John Browning violin third and three judges judging by applause. Mr. and Mrs. Orley See Mrs. America Fleming Mrs. J R Williams and C B Fleming returned Friday evening from relatives in Ohio. Mr and Mrs See left Monday for the Black Hills of South Dakota to attend a Sorority meeting and expect to arrive home in Piedmont California September 12.

The Sullivan county central Committee met on August 16 and again on August 23 to fill the ticket. Storm Damages Homes as Lightning Knocks Flue Top

A severe Saturday night storm caused heavy rain and lightning damage. J J De’s home lost a flue crown, Mrs. Jennie Epperson’s house suffered broken windows and falling plaster but she was unharmed, and a spring in an upstairs room was displaced.
