The Peterson Reunion took place at the Browning Legion Home on Sunday August 18 after rain forced the move from Chillico park. Attendees listed include multiple Petersons, relatives from Beardstown Albia Milan and Browning, with a noon basket dinner and an afternoon of singing and visiting.
A small family reunion was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Gooch of Shafter on Sunday to honor Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stevenson and daughter Mrs. Carl Ellis of Hutchinson Kansas. A bountiful basket dinner followed at noon. The afternoon featured visiting and music with Mrs. Ellis at the piano. Relatives present included Mrs. Linn Gooch and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Morley of Laclede, Mrs. Lena Phillips and Mrs. Nannie LaFee of Linneus, Mrs. Fabian Phillips of Kansas City, and Mary Lee Gooch of the home. Several relatives were prevented by rain and bad roads.
In Rothville Missouri residents backed two propositions at a special election granting Consumers Public Service Company a 20 year franchise and a street lighting contract by an overwhelming vote.

Enterprise 4 H Club met at the Enterprise School house on August 10 with Vernon and Gilbert Head hosting. Twenty two members and twenty six visitors attended. Pledge to the flags opened the meeting. No business was recorded. Songs games and refreshments followed.

Robert J McCollum born December 25 1860 in Linn County Missouri died July 26 1950 at North Salem age 89 years 7 months 1 day. Survived by wife Minnie Lee and three living children Tatlow W McCollum Paul B McCollum and Mrs Martha Taylor plus twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He taught school for fifteen years and was a renowned auctioneer for forty years. Funeral services July 28 1950 at North Salem Methodist Church conducted by Rev Fred P Hanes with Masonic pallbearers and Merrimaid Club flower girls. Interment in North Salem cemetery.
The family expresses gratitude to friends and neighbors for sympathy and floral tributes after the death of the husband and father. Signed by Mrs. R. J. McCollum and families including Tatlow W. McCollum Paul B. Mr. and Mrs. Beryl Taylor and Beverly.
A family dinner was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bagley on Sunday August 18 in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Bagley Bertie and Roger of Nokomis Illinois. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Charley Bagley of Purdin Mrs. L P Gilmer and Mr. and Mrs. Manley Buckman and Donald of Linneus Mr. and Mrs. Aiva Bagley Ronald and Kathryn of Shelbina Mr. and Mrs. Chester Bagley Caro and John of ks ville Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Harris and Wendell and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Wood and Rex of Linneus.
The Purdin High class of 1926 held a reunion at City Hall in Purdin on August 18 with a large purple and white cake, class colors, and display of the class pennant. Alva Bagley acted as master of ceremonies. J F Morrissay proposed expanding the reunion to all alumni and the next gathering was set for May 1951 at the Purdin 100 building with teachers and alumni invited.
Members of Chapter V P. E. O. met with Mrs Lila Williams on Wednesday August 9. Mrs Lillian Bennett was initiated into the Sisterhood. Eva Hope a non-resident member attended. Ruth Bennett and her son Kirby joined for social hour with Kirby playing piano solos. Kathryn Calhoun with Laura Hamilton Clairessa Slack Letha Bailey and Rosalie Schrock led a lesson on Poets and Poems. Williams read a magazine article and light refreshments were served.
The True Blue Club held a regular meeting hosted by Mrs Warren Gooch on August 10 with nine members present. Plans for an ice cream social and achievement day were discussed and songs were sung. Hostess gift went to Mrs Ed Dennis and refreshments included cakes iced tea and coolade.

Mrs. Joe Nevins hosted the Wesleyan Service Guild with Mrs. Virginia Carter and Mrs. Beverly Moore assisting. The program featured a Worship Service led by Mrs. Mary Grice on The Pillars of the Earth, a business meeting, and plans for an August 19 food sale at Wade's Furniture Store.
A local food sale will be held at the Wade Furniture Store on Saturday morning August 19. Organizers thank the public for their patronage and invite residents to attend.
O T Johnson of Browning offers to buy 1000 bushels of corn at 1.35 dollars per bushel or 1.40 dollars per bushel by truckload.
Pfc. Junior Keith Coram has been missing in action since July 22 in Korea. He is the brother of Ralph Coram of nearby hometown community.
Mr and Mrs Ora Smith of Purdin learned their son Gorge is missing in action in Korea as of July 20. He served with the 24th Division.
Mrs Frances Hoselton hosted with eight members eight children and three men. The group prepared rag rags and quilted for Mrs Sam Artz, enjoyed a noon chicken dinner, and heard roll call and minutes. Catherine won a hostess gift with forty two cents. Frances won two games. Next meeting on August 24 with Mrs Roy Crowdis.
Mrs Emmett Haley hosted an all day Willing Workers Club meeting on August 10 with six members two visitors and seven children present. A noon dinner was served. The session opened with Psalm 87 read by the host.
Mr. and Mrs. John Ackerson of Browning celebrated their 50th anniversary at their farm on Tuesday August 8. Six of their eleven children attended: Bernice Molster Milwaukee Wis Jordan Fort Dodge Iowa Harlan Ackerson Boston Arvid Ackerson Knoxville Iowa Harold Peterson and family Ogden Iowa Vernon Johnson Browning Janet Gernhart Fort Dodge guests including J E Ackerson and families Dorot Herb Ellendale North Dakota. A noon dinner, wedding cake, garden bouquets and a picnic lunch followed with many photos taken.
An open house will honor Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Bailey on Sunday for their 50th wedding anniversary. The event details and time are to be announced with emphasis on the couple's long marriage.

The Browning Farm Club met August 2 at the American Legion Hall with a large turnout. Ovid Atkins filled in as chair due to the president’s absence. Delegates elected to attend the Columbia convention on August 7 and 8 include Will Elliott Dale Fuller Ned Mundle Geo Prather Ross Burke Harley Hawkins and Asa Badger couple. Mr Bathell of Columbia spoke on the M F A and Farm Club meetings before a program and refreshments.
