Brookfield Fair Draws Crowd Despite Slow Ticket Sales
Last Thursday one hundred tickets were sold yet many attendees arrived by car. Early morning arrivals continued in waves until noon as crowds formed for an aviator, a balloonist, and a parachute leap nearly as thrilling as an airplane. Races billed as first class drew a record crowd.
Cross Roads and Cora Community Notes
Rain is badly needed in the community. Mella Almond was seen in Cora last week. Farmers are through for the season. Attended events include an ice cream supper at Cora and a supper at the Maggart. Local residents went to a fair in Brookfield and a chautauqua in Milan. Several visits among neighbors are noted, with multiple visits to see relatives and friends, and a new Ford purchased by Floyd Fanning.
