What Manure Does To Corn Findings From Missouri Study
The Missouri Agricultural Experiment Station reports fifteen years of soil tests showing an average annual yield increase of 10.34 bushels per acre with 8 tons of manure in a four year rotation plowed under before planting corn. Following crops also gain: oats 4.59 bushels, wheat 4.73 bushels, clover hay 808 pounds. Plowing under manure before corn minimizes fertility loss and up to 16 tons an acre yield profitable results.
