Nancy Ellen Pipes Cotter of Browning born August 5 1848 in Sullivan county near Browning died March 30 1912 age 63 years 7 months 25 days. She married A J Cotter December 14 1855 and left ten children eight living survivors J M Moore Browning W B Hilburn W T Cordray J W Johnson B J Lambert Noah Cotter Amos Cotter S S Cotter Sentinel. Also twelve grandchildren one great grandchild four sisters and one brother. Funeral at family residence conducted by Rev Cooper and buried Jenkins cemetery. A large crowd attended. The article notes her September 1 1911 reflection on faith and salvation.

Carlotta Pontiac, a seven year old Holstein cow at the Missouri College of Agriculture, tops butter fat records with 76.6 pounds fat in January from 2146 pounds milk at 8.57 percent. Over 140 milking days she produced 9268.6 pounds milk and 305.1 pounds butterfat, the equivalent of 881 pounds of butter, averaging 66 1/8 pounds milk daily and 21/2 pounds butterfat daily.
The Brandon Amusement Company staged Lena Rivers at the city opera house Saturday night to a full house. The performance was praised for its excellence though some young men in the rear jeered at curtain down. The company, described as clean and moral, is urged to improve behavior at future shows under Manager Whaley.
C L Whaley commissioned a Kansas City firm to paint a fresh, modern curtain set for the city opera house. The new curtains, described as the latest style, are praised as a much needed upgrade and among the best for a small town venue.
A notice warns that all parties owing coal must call and settle promptly. Effective immediately coal will be sold for cash only to enable payment of cash owed to the seller.
The city board granted Mr Bevan of New Cambria a franchise to install a ground lay acetylene lighting system. Operations start after contracts are signed and should complete by early July. Citizens are urged to support the project as a cheaper safer alternative to electric lighting.

Election day passed quietly with East ward alderman Charles White and G. W. Knifong for one year, West ward James Neet and city collector M. Burwell winning as announced. School election also quiet with R. Duncan and A. M. Elliott elected.
The Willis v. City of Browning appeared in Chillicothe before Judge Davis on Monday. The city requested a change of venue, which was granted, sending the case to La Plata for trial before Judge Shelton.
Mrs Hattie Hersman returned Friday from a short visit with Mr and Mrs Clarence Becker at Kirksville visiting friends and relatives during the trip.
