Terry County Keeps 1977 Tax Rates Amid Court Action

The Terry County Commissioners Court met on September 27 and kept the tax rate at 95 cents per $100, citing higher oil and utility evaluations. The 90 cent rate covers jury, roads, general fund, and other allocations. The court also approved a 15 percent pay raise for county employees and authorized purchases and services including office furniture for the Mental Health Clinic and ambulance fund audit.

Brownfield loses power in two town sections Monday

Brownfield experienced a power outage in downtown and near Brownfield General Hospital for about 15 minutes, with a second five minute outage after backup engines started. City officials led by City Manager Jake Geron investigated the valve failure in the old plant that switched between natural gas and diesel fuels. The hospital with its own generators remained powered during the outage.

Isaacs Wins Brownfield News Football Contest
