Brownfield district reports high tax collection and 1966 roll approved
Brownfield Consolidated Independent School District posted an 80 percent personal tax collection and 94.6 percent overall collection, the highest in the state per John Jennings. Commissioners Seek To Obtain Right Of Way In Terry County
Terry County commissioners authorized obtaining a right of way about 100 feet wide covering roughly six miles. If secured, the state would be asked to pave the route. The meeting was brief with routine actions approved. Doris Warren received a $4.50 salary increase to a base of $129.50. Half paid by state, half by county, with yearly state raises for 20 years. Floyd County Water Tax Sets 12 Per Acre Rate

Three Burglaries Hit Local Stores Sunday Night
Three burglaries Sunday night netted about 480 dollars in cash and merchandise from Fugitt's Gulf Station Kyle Grocery and the Red Rooster Drive In. The Trading Stamp Redemption Center in Kyle Grocery suffered the largest loss at 217.95 with cash and goods taken. Burglaries followed similar methods, with one entry via air conditioning vent at the grocery. Police made four arrests Sunday, including Frank Gonzales Avila for transportation and minor consulting and Nicholas Martin Garcia for aggravated assault on an officer.
