Honors handed out at County Farm Tour
The 47th Annual Terry County Farm Tour awarded Outstanding Young Terry County Farmer to Nicholas Seaton and named G. W. and Sue Dill as Conservation Farm Family of the Year. Seaton, farming 300 acres, discussed drip irrigation and supported by NRCS Equip Program, while Dill’s award was accepted by their son Tony.

Cerise J. Merritt reports the first peanuts of the season were harvested Saturday by S & O Farms near DeLeon. Weather aided the crop with adequate moisture and moderately warm temperatures. Peanuts move from field to processing yard, then to dryers, then graded for sale to buyers like M&M Mars and Hershey. Virginia and Spanish varieties are grown locally and demand varies by buyer.
