Insect Situation Eases in Area as Cotton Matures
Cotton has reached a mature stage with insects less troublesome in many fields. Leafworms cabbage loopers and bollworms remain active in some areas, with light to medium leafworm infestations and heavy bollworm presence reported in Floyd and Lamb counties. Controlling heavy infestations can reduce trash and lint staining while late planted or irrigated cotton may still be in growth.

Field Tour Draws 300 Observers Positive Tone On Terry Farm

Brownfield High School band director Fred Smith and assistant Mac Jones outline six hours of student work and detailed planning behind a five minute halftime show. They use a football field board to choreograph eight step intervals and maintain formation led by Drum Major LeNora Turner. The group, with six drill setups, will perform 50 to 60 times this year after seven prior appearances.
