Thursday's Brownfield council session reviewed plans for a two day Dallas program with officials including Mayor Arle Lawrimore and Councilmen Black Schellinger Copeland and Ross, plus City Manager Jones. A report on juvenile cases and a protest in Washington over federal farm labor rules were also discussed.
Dozens of Brownfield beauty operators will be judged at 2 pm today at The Party House. Sponsored by Brownfield Unite 101 and the Texas Association of Accredited Beauty Culturists. Public invited. Admission $1.50 per person. More than $300 in indoor prizes to be awarded.
Total enrollment rose to 2 714 in Brownfield schools, up from 2 645, with peak near 2 800 expected in November. Colonial Heights Elementary led gains from 425 to 571, junior high from 534 to 622, and Jessie G Randolph from 396 to 432, while Wheatley up from 112 to 134. High and West Ward schools fell, from 558 to 519 and 466 to 365 respectively.

The Terry County Committee of the White House Conference on Children and Youth will convene at 4 p.m. Wednesday in The Party House. The session aims to outline Youth Participation Week from Sept 28 to Oct 2 and appoint committees on juvenile delinquency education health welfare values and ideals youth participation public relations and finance.
