Rare Surgery Saves Terry County Youth
Gary Tatum ten year old son of Delton and wife of Route 1 Terry County recently recovered at home after a delicate heart operation at Texas Children's Hospital Houston. An artificial lung and mechanical heart worked for 20 minutes while a Dacron patch sealed a hole in his heart allowing scar tissue to incorporate the graft. Doctors say the operation offers hope despite earlier grim forecasts and the boy plans to return to school in a few months.

Levelland's Loboes mounted a high scoring aerial and ground attack for a 41 6 victory over the Cubs in the season opener at the new stadium.
