Sheriff reports August crimes and arrests in Terry County
Sheriff Jerry Johnson released the August report detailing six offenses including two thefts between 1500 and 20000 and one each of assault by threat, assault with bodily injury, criminal trespass and simple assault. Three offenses were cleared with arrests totaling 27.

Senior Center Dance Planned for Saturday Evening
The Brownfield Senior Citizens Center at 500 W Bridges will host a dance for residents aged 60 and above on Saturday September 15. The event runs from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. with a live band providing music and encouraging a night of dancing and fun for all attendees.

CASA seeks volunteers to help kids in South Plains
Court Appointed Special Advocates of the South Plains will begin training for new volunteers on Sept. 17 in Brownfield. CASA volunteers are trained and court appointed to investigate monitor report and advocate for abused and neglected children in Terry Lubbock Castro Hale Swisher Terry Yoakum counties. A 26 hour training course is required with sessions on child abuse neglect development foster care legal system and advocacy. Applications and interviews are needed before training.
