Commissioners Set Tax Rate For 1983 At 20
Terry County commissioners set the 1983 county tax rate at 20 cents per $100 valuation in a special session. Based on a county property value of 1,272,376,950 the levy is projected at 2,544,753. The budget is being finalized with a September budget hearing planned. Tax notices go out October 1 and taxes are due January 31, 1983 to avoid penalties. The effective rate for last year was 19.4 cents. A rate above 20 cents would trigger public hearings if the levy rose more than three percent.
