Free County Aviation Day at Terry County Airport
Terry County Aviation Day will be observed at the Terry County Airport Sunday Sept 5 with the public invited to watch a day long round of activities free of charge. The event opens with an 8 a.m. hangar breakfast by the Lubbock Civil Air Patrol and is open to the public and visiting pilots. Hot cakes and sausages cost 1.50 per person. Frank Roycroft of the Federal Aviation Agency will brief pilots and aviation fans on the new Flight Service Station in Lubbock at 10 a.m. A cross country trophy dash starts at 11 a.m. with navigation points on a triangular course. Lunch features hot dogs and cold drinks served by the Lubbock Squadron Civil Air Patrol. A flour sack bomb contest begins at 1 p.m. with a direct hit on a runway target, followed by a precision landing contest at 2 p.m. The bombing contest runs in two sections, second around 4 p.m., the show’s final event. Spectators may view from a special area along the runway. Harris Flying Service sponsors the show and will donate trophies. All profits from breakfast.

Tales Of The Past Weave The Present At Old Settler's Reunion Saturday
Approximately 225 persons attended the llth annual Old Settlers Reunion at the American Legion Hall sponsored by the Terry County Pioneer Association. The event featured visiting and reminiscing, a minimal formal program, a noon luncheon, and a memorial service for four members who have died. Proceeds support the Lubbock Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol.

Toliver tops District Two talent at Levelland pageant
Alice Toliver, Brownfield High junior and daughter of Mr and Mrs Coke Toliver of Levelland, won the District Two Farm Bureau Talent Fund contest Saturday night. Accompanied by Leonard Ellington, she sang a My Fair Lady medley and will advance to the Texas Farm Bureau state competition in Amarillo in November. County Arrests On Lean Side
Three arrests were reported in the County Jail since last issue. Manuel F. Navarrete was arrested for driving while intoxicated and speeding. He paid a $100 fine, $41.30 court costs, and $5 tax on the first count, plus $20 fine and $2.50 court costs on the second. John G. Contreras fined $34.50 for being drunk. Raymond Martinez paid $100 fine, $42.30 court costs, and $5 tax for driving while intoxicated.

Accidents on Blotter and Odd Local Incidents Reported

Terry County youths ages 8 through 13 should warm up for the 1971 Punt Pass and Kick event Sunday October 3 at 1 30 p m in Cub Stadium parking lot. The national contest is in its 11th year with Ford dealers and the NFL co sponsoring. There is no fee or body contact and scoring rewards distance and accuracy.
