Brownfield City Council members Alvin Mirll and Gilbert Garza are found to owe back taxes to Terry County entities, potentially rendering them ineligible to serve. Garza lists $5,396.20 with penalties for 1987, while Mirll’s 1993-94 taxes total $1,017.22 plus penalties. The issue triggers charter provisions on arrears and could lead to removal, with mixed reactions from the council and statements from Mirll citing ongoing bankruptcy proceedings.
