Memories Of Lucy Shows Domestic Violence Reach Home
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Terry County Crime Victims Coordinator Mamie Tells recalls Lucy Burciaga’s story to illustrate ongoing abuse. Lucy and her husband Bienvenido Burciaga battled coercion, threats, and a fatal plea for help, ending with Lucy’s death and the husband’s suicide. Tells continues assisting victims like Susan, a 41-year-old mother of four facing years of abuse, hoping others find a safer path.
