Harvest Festival crowns 2005 Queen Katie Hancock at Brownfield event

Crowds packed Coleman Park for the 2005 Harvest Festival with a parade on Broadway and a crowning ceremony at 7 p.m. Katie Hancock, representing the Optimist Club, won the crown and a $1,000 scholarship plus an extra $200 for ticket sales. Runner up Brit Tankersley earned $800 and a $200 talent prize. Debuts included Little Miss Harvest Festival Mikaela Oliver and multiple Brownfield Bucks prizes for winners and parade entries.

Meadowfest Saturday in Meadow City Park

Meadowfest returns this Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm at Meadow City Park with games, food and craft booths, and a city wide garage sale. Prize drawings totaling about 4000 dollars will be held four times per hour with two grand prizes. tickets available at the festival and Meadow Senior Center. Proceeds benefit park renovations and the Meadow Museum Association. advance tickets through City Hall.

Commissioners approve airport board members

Terry County Commissioners approved a consultant committee for the Terry County Airport including Eddie Ryburn Keith Neill Alan Bayer and Dale Andrews. They also authorized advertising for two sheriff department vehicles and for county employee group health dental and life insurance. Mamie Tells could attend the Crime Victims Conference in Austin November 6 9. District Judge Kelly Moore gave a brief presentation.
