Producers making best of tough year in Terry County
Terry County Extension Agent Jerry Warren says hail damaged 25 000 to 30 000 acres with heavy losses. Peanut acreage about 3 000 acres was hit with severe damage and uncertain whether to harvest or leave peanuts to recover. Some cotton bolls remain and growers spray to open them for harvest while insurance dictates salvage. Grain sorghum largely unaffected as the season’s outcome remains uncertain.
