He cites honesty as his main qualification and aims to reduce drugs and robberies without traditional sheriff attire, while suggesting he may carry a sawed off shotgun. He lives with wife Georgia Mae at 808 E. Buckley.
Santa Claus arrives at the County Courthouse square in Brownfield at 7 p.m. on Monday and then tours the east shopping area around 7 30 p.m. The event officially kicks off the Christmas Season and street decorations will be turned on that night in his honor.
City manager Dick Fletcher canceled the Brownfield City Council meeting scheduled for Thursday December 3 after determining there would be no business to discuss. He cited two power outages earlier that day at about 11 a.m. and roughly 90 minutes later with no official explanation yet.
