Terry County Jail passes eighth straight inspection
Terry County Commissioners heard good news as the county jail passed its eighth consecutive annual inspection by the Texas Commission on Jail Standards. The facility on the courthouse third floor averages 11.36 inmates of a 14 capacity, with space used by Hockley County Jail elsewhere. The day included updates on the West Texas Children's Assessment Center project, planned for Bynum Lane, costing about 2 million dollars and housing 46 youths. Construction is slated to begin spring 1996 with opening planned for summer or early fall.
