Two-Vehicle Crash In Wellman Involves Denver City Bus
A Thursday 4:01 p.m. crash at FM 213 and U.S. 62 in Wellman involved a Ford pickup with two juvenile occupants and a Denver City school bus carrying four deaf students. The pickup pulled onto U.S. 62 from the east and struck the bus broadsided, starting a small fire. All involved were transported to Brownfield Regional Medical Center. the pickup driver and bus driver Jacqueline Matus were released, while a pickup passenger stayed overnight for observation. Bus students were later sent home by the Denver City ISD superintendent.

Shane McMinn and Gary Stowe earned the top two ranks at Plains High School with McMinn as Valedictorian and Stowe as Salutatorian. Stowe, son of Gary and Irita, engaged in FFA basketball and many activities, aiming for Agricultural Finance and Accounting at Texas Tech.
