Two Residents Die From Gas Fumes At Cedar Lake Oil Site
Two Brownfield men Ronnie Lindley 15 and M L Cave 32 were found dead in a cedar lake oil well cellar south of Seagraves. Sheriff Taylor said fumes likely caused their deaths. Lindley’s father alerted authorities after they failed to return from the J O Jones lease. Lindley’s services were held in Brownfield and Cave’s in Newcastle.

Funeral services for W. Crawford Burrow 56 of 1005 East Harris are at 3 p.m. today at First Christian Church with Rev. Jack Garrett officiating. Burrow died after a heart attack in Lubbock while on business. He had lived in Brownfield 30 years, earlier a car dealer. burial in Terry County Memorial Cemetery with Masonic rites by Brownfield Lodge 903 AF&AM. Survivors: widow, Crawford Burrow Jr. of Fort Worth, Barry Burrow of Albuquerque, brothers Ted of Lubbock and Ralph of Fort Worth, and three grandchildren.

Amid thunder and rain, Brownfield’s Donald Etington received a Carnegie Hero Medal at a town event attended by 431 guests including lawmakers and the President. The ceremony followed July 19 elevator blast at Goodpasture Grain & Milling that killed five. 232 people aided in the rescue and aftermath.
