Wellman High names 91 honor students and valedictorian
Wellman High School announces Patricia Mercado and Keri Lusk as valedictorian and salutatorian for the graduating class. Commencement is 8 p.m. Friday May 24 in the WHS Auditorium. Mercado carries a 93.06 GPA and plans nursing studies after a year at South Plains College, then Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. Lusk holds an 88.92 GPA and intends to major in mathematics at Texas Tech.

Commissioners appoint Airport Zoning Commission members
On May 15 1991 Terry County Commissioners created the Airport Zoning Commission naming Arnold Patton Tommie Hamilton and Bob Noble as the new board. Noble will be chairman Hamilton secretary and Patton member director. The court also approved a 50 year lease bid by North Sixth Street Baptist Church and discussed long term jail planning while approving a $500 purchase for Lee County and reporting a national art prize awarded to Lala Lira of Brownfield High School Art Department.

Three Brownfield residents charged after traffic incident
Brownfield police say Eutimio Perez Emily Perez and Alice Tarango face aggravated assault on a police officer and resisting arrest after a traffic clash in the 500 block of East Magnolia Sunday. Officers allege a crowd formed, a woman blocked the officer, and he was cut on the wrist requiring seven stitches. Further charges and warrants are expected.
