Yoakum County and nearby contestants excel at District 2 4-H in Lubbock on May 7 with Matt Williams first in senior public speaking and second places for Sue Ann Bales and Fonda Holland in senior identification and meat demonstration. Three seniors advance to state Roundup at A&M June 7 8. Junior teams led by Tim Smith Mon White and Kirk Williams win grass identification. other juniors win safety demonstration. TB Tests To Be Given At Plains ISD May 24 26 1977
The Plains Independent School District nurse will administer TB tests to all full and part time employees and substitutes during the coming school year. Tests occur Tuesday morning May 24 from 9 30 to 11 00 in the old junior high library with readings on Thursday May 26. All results must be filed in the business office before the 1977 78 school year.

Matt Williams son of Mary Dale Williams and Charles Williams of Plains captured first in the senior division of 4 H Public Speaking in District 2 at Lubbock. The Plains High School senior will represent the district at 4 H Roundup at Texas A M University June 7 and 8.

Plains Board Accepts Bids and Hires in May 1977 Meeting
The Plains Independent School District board met May 9 1977 with full attendance and approved minutes bills transfer for 1977 78 and awarded a $34300 bid to Lubbock Reds Built. They accepted Barbara Cox resignation as girls basketball coach and planned outside hiring. A lot purchase from Gerald Ritchie was approved and the district contracted with the Education Service Center for 1977-78 payroll finance asset inventory and film booking. An early $1250 tax roll payment to Thos Y Pickett was approved Weldon Nelms and Mardi Bagwell hired for summer and full-time custodian respectively with full pay. The meeting adjourned.
