Election questions answered by Terry County Clerk

County Clerk Ann Willis notes post vote counts show only three ballot errors in the election. The issues arose on the first day of early voting March 14 when voters lacked correct district ballots. Ballot corrections were made to ensure each candidate set received a single vote.

Elected Brownfield officials take oath of office

Brownfield Mayor Brad Moore administered the oath to three new council members Linda Speed Bob Brewer and Robert L Noble Jr and one incumbent Nancy Wade to start the Thursday night session. Outgoing members David Ervin Roy Edwards and Barney Lindly were honored with plaques. Brewer was elected mayor pro tempore. The notable business concerns a CRMWA bond increase of about 4.5 million bringing total costs to roughly 66.5 million for the groundwater and aqueduct project.

Brownfield Council weighs bids on city equipment

The Brownfield City Council reviewed bids for computer upgrades totaling 14,781 from Gateway 2000 of North Sioux City SD for six computers and three printers. It considered 11 two-channel 45 watt radios from South Plains Communications at 7,268.40. Oberkampf Supply of Midland quoted 21,247.12 for four commercial water heaters. Plains Pump Company of Lubbock bid 15,195 for four fuel pumps.

County joins worldwide March for Jesus in Brownfield

The eighth annual March for Jesus comes to Brownfield and Terry County on May 22 at 9 am starting east of the Courthouse. Participants join 525 other cities and 100 nations in a global walk with banners, music, and a one mile route ending with singing and prayer. Proceeds support feeding the hungry with non perishables, and shirts bearing the slogan Jesus said Love One Another So Just Do It! are available through May 14 with contact numbers for orders and information.
