In an emergency session Tuesday, Terry County Commissioners reviewed papers served Monday by the U.S. District Court for the Lubbock Division. Emily Perez, listed as Emily Gomez, represented by Rolando Rios of San Antonio, sues Terry County, County Judge Doug Ryburn, and commissioners, claiming a newly adopted voting change was not precleared under Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act, denying her civil rights.
Brownfield CISD trustees approve noon dismissal Thursday May 7 and full days May 11 and May 25 to compensate teachers who completed summer staff development time, allowing others to finish required 20 hours.
