The American Legion will dedicate the Memorial Amphitheatre at Coleman Park with an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday May 18. The Legion will deliver the building keys to county commissioners and judge then to park board members. The event also includes tours of the American Legion Hall and notes about $36000 spent on improvements over two years.
Kenneth Moss of Lubbock and Terry County Farmers Union members meet at the Farmers Inn to organize a countywide drive beginning Monday. Teams of three will visit farmers to explain the union goals and encourage joining. Meetings and plans outline daily routes with events at Holiday House and Farmers Inn.
Alvin Davis owner of the Cowboy Store attended a national Western store owners convention in Oklahoma City April 27 to 29. The event founded the National Western and English Retailers Association with 22 states represented and several hundred attendees. Davis elected chairman of a steering committee to establish the group with temporary headquarters at 206 W Main Brownfield.
Members of the Farmers Union gathered Thursday at the Farmers Inn to map a blanket countywide membership push.
