Local Club Meeting Highlights And Community Updates
The State Line FCE Club gathered April 22 in the Plains Clubroom with President Margaret Box. Joan Chandler spoke on skin cancer and smart eating for the May 27 meeting. Members present included Toni Jones Sidney Murphy Margaret Hartman and Margaret Box. A barbecue pit cooker was loaned for community events with reservations via Precinct 4 Commissioner Mackey McWhirter. Martha Jo Anderson begins work in Denver City and will coordinate Plains Clinic visits with Dr. Boyd on Thursday afternoons and Tuesday starting May 2 from 1 to 4 pm. A Yoakum County Library film time on April 26 drew many youngsters including Quade Crawford Kevin John Gass Isaac Doyle and others who watched Goldilocks and Rumpelstiltskin. Trent Hawthorne celebrated his fifth birthday with his mother providing refreshments.

Four pleas entered in 121st District Court
Judge Ray Anderson presided as four defendants pleaded before him this week. Jeffrey Lee Zermeno admitted to retaliation and received a three year Texas Department of Corrections term. David Leon Brown pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault and drew a ten year probated sentence with Terry County supervision and fines totaling 1,000 dollars plus court costs 174.50 250 attorney fees and a 40 dollar monthly probation fee. He must serve 30 days in Terry County Jail provide 300 hours of community service attend AA meetings weekly and other conditions.
