Fuel and Fertilizers Pressures Across Terry County Farmers
Agricultural producers in Forney County face rising fertilizer costs tied to higher natural gas prices. nitrogen costs rose to 40 cents per pound from 35, while potash jumped from 15 to 23 cents. Experts link fuel costs to production and transport, with a potential shift to poultry litter as a partial solution. Local Extension sources anticipate a slow leveling of prices over the next couple of years as supply tightness and environmental rules influence production. Planting season starts late due to cool soils and forecasts of a cool spell, with farmers adjusting timing to conditions and costs.

She contrasts Hubble’s legacy with plans for the James Webb Space Telescope, capable of subtler, farther views, as NASA weighs its future. The piece reflects on public reaction, safety concerns after the Columbia disaster, and the aim to probe objects billions of light years away.
