City man found guilty of murdering father
Mario Jose Garcia was found guilty by a six by six jury in the July 1984 murder of his father Israel Garcia in 121st District Court. He received a 75 year sentence. The verdict followed about 50 minutes of deliberation. Judge Ray Anderson presided. County Attorney Dwayne Pruitt prosecuted.

Duo nabbed after multi store theft spree
A man and a woman linked to thefts at Revco Discount Drug Center, TG Y, and Lindsey's Hardware were captured after leaving more than 1000 dollars in goods. Police say the felony threshold is 750 dollars, but the pair took items from multiple stores and face misdemeanor charges. The items included a 13 inch color TV, microwave, stereo tapes, VCR, jeans, and tape measures. The duo were halted at Lindsey's after trying to steal another TV.
