New 121st District Court Bill Sits With Governor
State Representative Jim Rudd says Senate Bill 596 to split the 121st Judicial District is awaiting Governor Bill Clements signature. The change would leave only Terry and Yoakum Counties in the 121st and empower Yoakum County to prosecute, while Terry County prosecutes its cases. District Judge Ray Anderson will continue to serve both counties. The measure aims to ease court burden and speed trials, with the governor likely to sign to gain appointive power over new districts.
