Brownfield Council weighs reforms to city garbage policy
The council approved three provisions from the garbage advisory committee including a $1.50 monthly hike to fund two new cleanup workers and a plan for civic groups to assist in alley and park cleanup. Debate covered liability, private property debris rules, and a no-change stance on the current $17.25 monthly fee. The meeting also renewed a street sweeper lease, gas contract terms, and began forming a long term capital needs advisory committee with members Russ McKee, Reggie Butler, Gilbert Gutierrez, and Jody Woodard, plus reappointment of Dr Morris Knox to head the South Plains Health Department.
