Babe Ruth League meets Thursday to plan season

The Babe Ruth League invites parents and volunteers to a 7 30 p m organizational meeting in the Civil Defense Room basement Public Safety Building. Brownfield City Council Adopts Budget and Schedules Hearing

The Brownfield City Council approved a 51 945 043 budget for the new fiscal year starting April 1. A public hearing is set for March 26. The budget increases Water Department funding to 158 000 and includes a 10 percent city employee raise. The one cent city sales tax is projected to yield 81 000, with 12 000 population assumed. Bids for a seal coating project were opened, Thomason Construction Co. of Hobbs NM besting others at 6 898.50, and bids for a street paving project were set to open March 26.

Texas House OKs $3.5 Billion Water Plan Amendment

Water Inc. president K B Watson says the Texas Constitutional amendment authorizing bonds of 3.5 billion dollars for the Texas Water Plan passed the House in Austin by 132 to 15. The vote shifts submission to voters in 1969 instead of 1970 and signals statewide support for groundwater restoration and long-range needs.

City Councilmen Seek Re Election in April Ballot
