Fort Carson Soldier Held on Theft Charge in Terry County
A 20 year old Fort Carson based soldier faces a felony theft charge and is jailed in Terry County on a 750 dollar bond. Jimmy Ray Madding allegedly took a car from Harding Motors under the pretense of testing it then left with it. Police say he admitted the theft and said he used the car to travel with friends on the South Plains.

Tragic West Bridges House Fire Claims 17 Month Old Victim
A 17 month old Black boy, Eugene Finien, died in a two room West Bridges dwelling fire that also left a mother injured and three siblings unscathed. Fire Chief Leonard Is aacs cited a mass of flames driven by 30 mph wind. 25 volunteers fought the blaze but the frame house burned to the ground. Funeral services were held Saturday at Hester Memorial Church with Pastor C. S. Smith officiating.

Ropesville Teen Dies in 1959 Traffic Crash
Funeral services were held for Lynn Freeman Joplin a 17 year old from Ropesville Terry County's first 1959 traffic fatality. He died after his car left a dirt road and plunged into a bar ditch eight miles northwest of Brownfield about 9 15 p m Wednesday. His wife also 17 was listed in good condition with multiple injuries. The couple had been living with his parents Mr and Mrs R A Joplin. Services for Freeman were conducted at Meadow Baptist Church with two pastors presiding.
