Plains man dies in rollover on U S 380
A Plains man Wade Gass age 20 died early Saturday when his westbound car left U S 380 thirteen miles west of Brownfield and rolled over trapping him beneath. Elson Ray Lemley, a passenger, suffered a broken leg and was hospitalized. Services for Gass were held at First Baptist Church in Plains with Rev. Glen Harlin officiating.

Sheriff Probes Major SPS Substation Theft in Terry County
The Terry County Sheriff investigates a weekend theft at a Southwestern Public Service substation near the Terry Gaines County line. About 10 000 in property was stolen including a ground packer, a tandem axle trailer, and various tools. A video cassette recorder was taken from Brownfield Middle School library, with no forced entry found. Additional losses include ladders from the school maintenance room and rural thefts nearby of a drill press grinder and battery.

Terry County youths led by Kim Roberts and Sam Miller placed across cattle hog divisions at the Houston Stock Show last week. Roberts' steer earned third, Barrier took fifth, Jones sixth in Angus, and Miller also earned 11th in Crossbreed while Paul Miller, Lowden, Moss, Briggs, and West posted multiple hog placings from 11th to 22nd. Agent Gaither noted over half of Terry entries sold at the sale.

Lions Seek Talent Show Entrants For Annual Tourney
