Two Levelland men died Saturday in a two car collision at the Seagraves Road US 62 intersection in Brownfield. Tienda, 19, and Parader, 21, were pronounced dead after their 1988 Chevrolet spin and flip on a median. Driver Dill, 29, of Brownfield was treated and released. Police awaiting toxicology results. seat belts not used reported. Services set for Parader in Levelland Tuesday and for Tienda Wednesday.
Richard Herrera grew up in El Paso and chose music over football, later earning bachelor and master degrees at West Texas State University. He led Rankin High School Band to state contests, taught undergraduates, and remains devoted to year‑round band work and camps with a focus on developing young musicians. Herrera credits influential directors and teachers, and continues teaching and directing in Brownfield.
The Brownfield City Council will meet Thursday at 7:30 a.m. at City Hall to confirm Mayor Graham Swain's BIDCorp board appointments and present plaques to outgoing directors Bob Brewer and Nancy Wade. They will discuss legal defense for City Manager Dick Fletcher and City Inspector Earl Elrod in a suit by resident Mary Hudspeth Gunnels and consider repealing the local sales tax exemption on telecommunications.
Early voting in the March 12 Democratic and Republican primaries ends at 5 p.m. Friday March 8 in the Terry County Clerk's office. By Tuesday morning 211 had voted 169 Democratic 42 Republican. Precinct Three Commissioner Don Robertson faces Joe H Morin. other county officials run unopposed.
