A $3,000 reward funded by 56 Terry County residents and businesses is announced for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer of Lester Alee McPherson, shot at a Brownfield Chevron station on December 26, 1959. Ballistics and interviews have yielded no breakthrough. The group excludes information from local law officers.

Brownfield City Council Approves Annexation and Generators
The Brownfield City Council approved annexing 2.4 square miles and authorized purchase of a 568000 diesel generator and a 12000 switchgear for the power plant. A fiscal agent was hired to prepare and sell revenue bonds. March 17 was set for a public hearing on the 1960 61 budget.

Four Brownfield Men Pioneering Go Kart Racing Here
Ferrell Daniel and three Brownfield men, W E Cagle J E Mitchell and Buster Steen, own go kart racers and have competed in Littlefield Seminole Hobbs Odessa and Lubbock. Daniel introduced the sport two and a half years ago and has 23 area trophies. They plan to attend the Lubbock track opening with about 200 racers from the region.

District Court sentences handed down in non jury trials
Eleven sentences were imposed by District Judge M C Ledbetter in two district court sessions. Prison terms include Brightman two years for incest, Bryant three years for burglary, Clanton two years for theft, Cruz one year for DWI second offense, Richey two years for burglary, Smith seven years for burglary, Valentine five years for burglary, White seven years for burglary, with probations for Martinez four years for burglary and Scrivner two years for a subsequent DWI offense.

Citizenship Study series to meet at Brownfield High Library

Services Set Friday for Mrs. A. C. Holcomb
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at First Methodist Church for Mrs. A C Holcomb 72 a Terry County resident since 1919 who died at her Brownfield home Thursday. Rev. Dallas Denison and Rev. James Tidwell officiated. Burial followed at Terry County Memorial Cemetery. She moved to Brownfield in 1941 with her husband after his retirement from farming. Survivors include four sons Arnold Purtell Lubbock R J Purtell and Kenneth Purtell Brownfield Vander Holcomb Amarillo. two daughters Mrs Alvin R Smith Eunice New Mexico and Mrs Ernest Davis Amarillo. two brothers H C Arnold and T J Arnold. a sister Mrs H L Decker. 13 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Ned Self Jim Jones Eunice Jones Ross Black Lloyd Hahn and Jess McWherter.
