Bird Nest Causes Brownfield Power Outage
Brownfield suffered a city-wide outage for the second time in four days when a bird landing on a substation insulator burned it and blew two fuses. Crews restored power without a needed part, which was later ordered. A prior outage Monday was blamed on a West Texas storm with 51 mph gusts that toppled more than 24 poles on Bynum Lane. City officials noted this is only the second city-wide outage in 17 years and dismissed rumors of a planned outage.
