Hams Record 484 Contacts in ARRL Field Day Drill
Terry County Amateur Radio Club and 13 operators joined 27 hours of Field Day activity on Tohoka Road east of Cedar Street. The total reached 484 two way contacts covering 45 states and three foreign countries, with operations targeting emergency communications readiness using portable trailers, tables and generators.

Youngster Hit By Automobile In Brownfield
An eight year old Kirk McMillian was struck near Cedar and Reppto Streets and rushed to Brownfield General Hospital with a broken arm and unknown additional injuries. Police say the incident happened as he darted into the street while with his grandparents. Police investigated three other recent vehicle crashes and reported thefts and a DWI arrest with bond set at 500 dollars.

GenTel Honors E H Danner At Retirement Party
GenTel officials and directors honored FE H Danner with a retirement party at the San Angelo Country Club. Danner will be succeeded as president by L Gray Beck on July 1 after 40 years in the telephone business. He led the Southwest unit from 1957 as the company expanded to 435 exchanges and 720000 phones across five states.
