Pheasant release discussed for Terry County habitat program
A Terry County meeting led wildlife biologist Herb Rothman to report sightings of young pheasants this spring and optimism for more releases this fall. Landowners should reserve food and cover, with unharvested crops or standing stubble. Cost share up to 5 per acre or 50 percent, five to fifty acre plots eligible, and crops include grain sorghum rye corn and cane. Approximately 1800 pheasant chicks have been purchased for sale to landowners this fall.
