Centennial Celebration and Time Capsule Event in Terry County
Two weeks remain until Terry County Centennial ceremonies on the courthouse lawn at 2 p.m. A 1979 time capsule will be opened, revealing items for public viewing. The Veterans Memorial dedication follows with remarks by Jimmie Rodgers and Don McWhorter, a roll call, and Taps by a BHS student. Donations fund a $45,000 memorial, with $30,000 from the American Legion Post and $1,255 in other gifts. $7,000 in pledges remain. Donations are tax deductible and may be made at local banks or via the courthouse. Prior to July 4 events, This Is Our Land, The Story of Early Terry County will run June 25-26 at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with a listed cast. donations welcomed.
