The piece recalls Refuge Hill on the UT Arlington campus where Barachah Home residents were buried beside infants unnamed or labeled infant numbers. It notes Upchurch’s 1903 home, its 1935 closure, later orphanage use, and Texas Historical Commission marker beside the cemetery now on a campus site. Armadillo racing in Texas is also discussed with origins in Luckenbach.
