John Dick Moorhead died at his Houston home after a heart attack while mowing his lawn. Raised in Brownfield, he worked for Amoco and was transferred to Houston in August last year. He is survived by his wife Betty a daughter Rhetta his mother Gladys Moorhead and four brothers Bo Meadow Lubbock Stuffy Denver City Speedy Meadow.

Bad weather forces postponement of swimming lessons at the Brownfield pool. Manager Coach Lawrence Brown announced the delay and said family night will begin at 7:30 p.m. tonight. The pool will also be available for evening parties.
Ed Stokum, born November 1, 1942 in Carlsbad, has moved to Brownfield as the Brownfield store manager at T G Y on Main Street. He previously worked in Carlsbad and Big Spring, enlisted in the National Guard in 1961, and notes long work weeks limit time for extras.
