Wellman crews tackled a hay trailer fire on US 62 385, estimated one third of 200 bales saved, about 30 minutes to control.
The Terry Memorial Hospital District board approved a five percent across the board pay raise for Brownfield Regional Medical Center staff, excluding Administrator Mike Click and a recently hired employee. The meeting also granted $9,000 malpractice insurance aid to surgeons Dr. Enrique Muys hondt and Dr. Harlan Willis and approved district participation on the tax abatement and reinvestment zone boards.
Meadow Independent School District board meeting marks the end of eight years for superintendent Jimmy Thomas who resigns to lead Borden County ISD in Gail. He will begin July 1 and turnover to David Rice, former high school principal, after finishing tasks this month. Thomas, of Lubbock lineage, grew up in Abernathy and recalled playing football and his FFA involvement.
