Lions Club youths win first meet at Lubbock prep track
The Lions Club Summer Recreation program youths earned two first places and 40 ribbons at the Lubbock Junior Champ meet. Johnny Hedrick and Bobby Craig led with multiple top finishes in the prep and intermediate divisions, while Pam Moon and others also scored. The group, under James Morris, plans to attend the TAAF meet in Lubbock Saturday as 25 girls are already running.

Police report says Estrada Scorro was arrested and charged with disturbance and released after posting a $100 bond. Scottie Dawson Williams remains in county jail after probation revocation. City police investigated a 2:35 p.m. accident at Brownfield State Bank involving a 1964 Oldsmobile driven by Dellis E. Green of Plains and a 1964 Dodge driven by Joyce Porum Hale. Firefighters responded at 7:45 p.m. to a dwelling on East Main Street. heavy damage reported by Mrs. Preston Lott due to smoke from a bathroom closet.
