Rainy week leaves South Plains soaked with damage in Terry County
The South Plains faced a wild weather week with Terry County hit hard by rain and hail. Brownfield records 0.8 inches plus 1.48 since, while farmers report flooded fields, delayed planting, and crop damage across pea nuts and cotton, with more storms forecast and soil temperatures dipping. Earl Brown says his land north of Brownfield is largely ruined, mud and water filling furrows and delaying field work.
