Summer program starts with chores and reading session
Wooten describes a summer program for youths aged six to 17, noting a morning educational session led by Linda Stokum, a reading survey, and a link between reading and summer vacation. If a child refuses activities they may be assigned chores and, if noncompliant, possibly not attend activities. After the session, children have 30 minutes of free time in their cottages before lunch.
