Wise County scam warns locals about Three Card Monte
Podiatrist turned detective Lynn Brisendine recounts a Decatur scam where a 64 year old man was cheated out of $25,000 in a Three Card Monte confidence game. Con men used a black man asking for directions and a white man offering help to lead the victim to the bank then to a hospital and a lock box. The case ended with an empty lock box and a hard lesson about too good to be true promises. Authorities urge vigilance and to contact police if approached with such offers.

Amendment early voting to continue in Terry County
Early voting runs through Tuesday August 5 at the Terry County Clerk office for the August 9 constitutional amendment. 131 votes cast so far. the ballot proposes raising residence homestead exemption by 10000 and allows transfer of tax limitation between qualified homesteads for seniors.
