Brownfield 13 Year Old All Stars Head To Dumas
Brownfield 13 year old all stars travel to Dumas for the 13 Year Old West Texas State Tournament running Monday through Saturday. First game Monday at 6 p.m. pits Brownfield against the winner of the Plainview tournament. If victorious they meet Borger winner Tuesday at 8 p.m. and then Thursday 8 p.m. with a possible Saturday 6 p.m. championship. If they lose first round they play Wednesday at 6 p.m. with elimination if they lose again, or a 6 p.m. Thursday game on the path to a Friday 7 p.m. game and potential Saturday title shot. If Brownfield defeats the undefeated team they could rematch later Saturday. A second round loss after a first win shifts path to Wednesday 8 p.m. and the same progression.

Mason gets prison term for checks
Kenny Mason was found guilty of possession of a forged instrument and received a five year state prison term in 121st Judicial District Court. Judge Ray Anders ordered restitution for two checks as a parole condition. Brownfield police had arrested Mason on July 14 after hot check charges. bond was set at $30,000.
